Nike first dipped its toes into the world of skateboarding in 1997, after seeing their basketball and gym-friendly trainers adopted by skaters throughout the 80s. A young Bam Magera was famed for glueing Nike swooshes to his és accels and was subsequently used in the first round of adverts for the first three models; The Schimp, The Snak and the unfortunately name 'Choad'. Initially the skate world struggled to accept a large corporation moving into their scene, but over the years pro-skaters and back yard kick-flippers have embraced the brand for its clean-design apparrell and footwear, including the Jordan-influenced 'Dunks' which are now a sought-after collectors item.
